Matteo (Chinese Man) explores the Thailand Music Scene in a twelve days tour of the country.

MATTEO from notorious french trio Chinese Man recently wrapped up a multi-city tour in Thailand, organised by Live Promotions. Navigating the vibrant yet challenging landscapes of Bangkok, Phuket, and Samui, MATTEO’s visit was a pragmatic mix of music, local interactions, and cultural experiences. From collaborating with Thai artists to engaging with the local scenes, the tour was an honest endeavour to bridging musical artists and communities.

Meeting with talented artists of Bangkok

To start the 12 days tour in Bangkok, the Live Promotions crew showed Matteo around Bangkok and introduced him to our local up-and-coming artist Réjizz, known for his chill indie, hip-hop infused music. They met at CD Cosmos vinyl shop and shared some of their favorites. The vibe was set!

After this brief introduction, they walked up to the Sundae Record Studios and shared some more music, showed each other what inspired them and we were lucky enough to listen to some unreleased tracks and ideas from both artists.

Shooting the first “Cross-Culture” video Podcast

The discussions between Matteo and Réjizz were very interesting, so we decided to have them sit down and talk on camera. Hosted by our general manager Polo Ruesz, we invited Naomi, a DJ and journalist from France that was touring with Matteo, to share her thoughts. Imagine having three artists from completely different backgrounds and experience, sharing their thoughts on the hiphop and party scene both in France and Thailand. We also want to thank our partner Public House Hotels, where we shot the podcast and who hosted them for the night.

Street photo shooting in Chinatown Bangkok

Right after the video podcast session, we hopped on a van to join talented photographer Pavel Khon for an hour long photo shooting in the streets of Chinatown. We started from Hua Lamphong train station and walked down all the way to Baan Rim Nam. While artists are in Thailand, they should not miss on the opportunity of creating quality content, and that’s just what we did!

Producing a show in Bangkok, Thailand

The primary aim of the tour was to jointly produce a special Applause evening right in Bangkok, Thailand, introducing locals and international residents to unique music genres they seldom experience.

At Live Promotions, our team took care of it all: Inviting Sawasdee France and Asia Pillars as our main partners, handling graphic design, choosing Monkey Pod as the ideal venue, installing sound systems, renting specific DJ gear, as well as coordinating photographers and videographers. We also managed online ticket sales, event reception, while promoting the show on social media and to our extended network.

The event was a hit, drawing over 150 attendees who came to enjoy the early Friday night garden party. Thanks to Pullman Hotel G for hosting our artists during their Bangkok stay.

Discovering Phuket for a night at Blue Elephant

After a successful event in Bangkok, Matteo and Naomi travelled down south to Phuket for the Season Opening party of incredible fine dining restaurant Blue Elephant. This year, they wanted to give a twist to their annual season launch and made it a great event.

Hilton Garden Inn Phuket Bang Tao kindly partnered with us and hosted the artists and the Live Promotions’ crew for a stay at their beautiful resort. We are very grateful to have Hilton Hotel and Resorts to be our partners in Phuket.

Residential Music Studio Session in Koh Samui

After a lovely stay in Phuket, Matteo and Naomi travelled again to another one of the most well-known, beautiful and tropical islands in Thailand: Samui.

Our partner Sunrise Studio Samui, hosted Matteo and Naomi for a three days wonderful stay. Sunrise Studio Samui is a custom, tropical and modern music studio, known for its exceptional acoustics, developed solely by world-renowned acoustician Pierre Jacquot. Their equipment is top level, along with their sleek studio designs and the ability for artists to retreat there and merge themselves with the local lives, especially those seeking inspiration.

Liam Colin, founder of the studios, worked with Matteo on various tracks, inviting local musicians playing thai traditional instruments for a sample recording session. On the second day of their trip, the Applause Samui event was hosted at Karma Sutra Samui and gathered over 100 islanders on a Tuesday night!

Tour Finale and Upcoming Adventures

This was the last stop of the tour. Both artists left Thailand for France and Bali. Since then, Chinese Man just released the a new single of their latest album and announced a french tour. The tour should become a world tour in 2025 and we made sure that Bangkok would be on the map!
